Cumulative Rune Cost by Level
This table shows the total runes needed to go from level 1 to each milestone level, computed with the same level-cost curve the live calculator uses.
| Target level | Total runes (from lv. 1) |
|---|---|
| 25 | 25,033 |
| 50 | 151,726 |
| 80 | 853,818 |
| 100 | 2,287,073 |
| 125 | 6,788,787 |
| 150 | 15,841,776 |
| 175 | 30,365,655 |
| 200 | 55,088,155 |
| 250 | 155,228,480 |
| 300 | 351,578,480 |
Past level 300, cost keeps climbing steeply toward the level 713 cap — at that point the per-level increase is large enough that most players stop leveling long before reaching it. Rather than quote a single figure for the very top of the range, use the live calculator with your own target level for the most relevant number.
Respeccing: Larval Tears, Not Runes
Runes only pay for leveling up — they're spent at a Site of Grace and don't factor into respeccing. To reallocate your existing stat points, you need Larval Tears, found from certain bosses and hidden throughout the Lands Between. Once you've defeated Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon in the Academy of Raya Lucaria, you can spend a Larval Tear at her to fully redistribute your stat points for free — as many times as you have tears for.
Leveling Efficiently
- Level Vigor, Mind, and Endurance early — they raise survivability stats that every build benefits from regardless of damage-scaling stats.
- Push your primary damage-scaling stat (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, or Arcane) toward its first soft cap before spreading points elsewhere — see the Stat Calculator & Soft Caps guide.
- Compare your Attack Rating at different upgrade levels before spending runes on smithing stones — a fully upgraded lower-rarity weapon often outperforms an under-upgraded rare one. Try it in the AR Calculator guide.
